Washi paper, or wagami, is a type of very thin Japanese paper which is an institution in traditional Japanese culture. Its traditional production was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2014. The French artist based in Japan, Jeremy Yamamura, has made a series of surprising originals on this type of delicate paper, where he has incorporated his colorist and humorous iconography of an urban artist to this light support. Washi, in turn, is used in various traditional arts such as origami or shodo, and in Japan it is also sometimes used to make objects such as clothing or lamps.
